Thanks Nick

I would probably start looking towards John Ditchfield, but abstact (or impressionist?) decor is not one of my areas of understanding.

What is the size of the weight?

This doesn't seem to be John Ditchfields work, any other suggestions?

Many thanks glassnut, it certainly looks similar to his landscape series, I have emailed them to confirm.

Oddly London glassblowing don't seem to want to confirm this, replies to email state "yes it certainly looks like one of Peters early Landscape pieces, I'll ask him later ref, name date etc" then hear nothing for 3 - 4 days email again pretty much the same message back. e mailed again yesterday still no response very odd. Does anyone have any further references to his work apart from their current website?

They are normally very good about coming back and sometimes I do get a duplicate email from them, probably because they are good at responding and want to ensure they haven't left someone out so the email gets duplicated occasionally....I think there are probably quite a few people emailing them  :) and they are very busy -  do give them some time to respond.

Great news just had an email back that this is indeed a Peter Layton landscape series piece and if I take it in Peter will sign it for me. Another great £5 buy :)

Hi Nick,
I love Peter Laytons work and i have several pieces of his studio glass but only one paperweight.
I would recommend a visit on one of his open studio days that happen a few times a year.
Regards Stephen... ;D
