Everything about it is heavyhanded. Thick cased, clear scrolls attached - just heavvy.

I thought it rather elegant and well crafted.  Oh well.  No accounting for taste I guess.   :'(

It is not a matter of taste or elegance - more an instance where you use scales to get an appriximate ID. The weight of the piece tells you it is not from Germany, not from Sweden, not from Holland and not from England.  After which you're stuck with an attribution to Poland, Portugal or Romania....

I just went on a search to see if I could find anything like it on the Krosno website, and was sorry to see that the company went  into liquidation on 27 March 2009!  Another one bites the dust. :'(

This one on ebay reminded me of the vase, obviously no handles but a ruffle instead, has a Tarnowiec label too:

Not quite cranberry to my eye. ;D

Bubbles - I found out a while ago that Krosno is a glassmaking area - one with several glassworks, not a single one on its own.

I used to see a lot of lovely contemporary glass with Krosno labels, then suddenly, they stopped and all the glass I saw in a similar vein was labelled LSA - which is an importing and exporting company.

Thanks for that info Sue!  I did wonder whether Krosno was just the name of a distributing company.
