Organic paperweight? I.D
« on: June 08, 2012, 08:29:08 PM »
Hi, Can anyone identify this paperweight.  I have not had much luck in finding one with a similar design.  It would be of interest to know if the plant inset is real.  I have looked through numerous books etc., but not able to find anything at the moment.  The height is approximately 8.3cm, the base dia. 3.6 at widest point (oval shaped).  There is a small notch measuring o.6cm in length.   It would be a great help, if anyone can assist with identification.

I think the current thinking on these is Japanese. The "plant" insert cannot be real if it is glass, which it is. The heat of the glass would burn it away. Only resin paperweights use real plants.

I have one too
