It's a nice one, and rather big - not the biggest size that can be found though which can be up to 6" tall - massive things - doorstoppers rather than for holding down bits of paper!
An early-ish piece, possibly mid '70s, in Tortoiseshell.
It is, however, marked Mdina, not signed. The word "signed" indicates an artist's signature.
good luck with your sale. :)

Thanks for that information Sue. Very much appreciated.

I'll have to get out of the habit of saying signed, it just comes naturally for some reason :-)

 :) Thanks very much.
Do make a big deal of its size when selling it. Large solid lumps of glass can cause no end of annealling problems and give rise to more failures than small lumps.
Often I see these on ebay and there is no indication, other than a description in the listing. No use if the person looking at it doesn't go further thean the thumbnail

These really big ones are far more "desirable" than normal ones.
Plonk a pin-pong ball next to it? ;)

Thanks Sue I think I'll do just that. I thought it was quite a big one but to be perfectly honest I've not had much exposure to Mdina so your help is really appreciated, I guess we all learn something new everyday.

Many Thanks,
