Plymouth Drug Co, 20 Cornwall St
« on: June 15, 2012, 05:57:02 PM »
Hi,
I'm a new member, intrigued by 3 glass bottles I found at the bottom of the garden:

1. Least info: Plymouth Drug co, 20 Cornwall st, registered between 1890 and 1895. It has 'Gilbertson no (indestinct)----83 on the bottom. Clear. Any idea of the age and value?

2. Foster Clark Ltd. Maidstone, Eiffel Tower Lemonade, on the bottom is a series: B300, C23, UGB
I googled the topic and believe it's dated between 1910 and 1935. Value +- GPB7?

3. Paterson's EES "Camp Coffee and Chicory", Glasglow, product produced from 1885 (this site, I think). Value GBP 15?

All 3 are in good condition, amazingly

Info for no1 here - http://www.chemistbottles.co.uk/plym%20drug.htm which suggests the chemist was at Cornwall street for 5 years and after that they moved to a new address - which would date it to the dates you have given. 1890/1895

The value of any collectible fluctuates and the best way to gauge it would be to look at online auction sites or specialist bottle sites etc. If you look at ebay, then don't forget to look at the completed listings to find out what has actually sold recently. Sellers could ask £1000 for something - doesn't mean it is worth that though.

Hope this helps
Hil :)
