Modern weight display
« on: June 17, 2012, 05:43:58 AM »
It has been tremendously fun to build a small collection of modern weights (there are a few antiques I couldn't pass up). After starting three months ago my display shelf is now full and I'm happy with what is there for the most part. Appreciation for all the good advice received on this board. A few of you may recognize some of these weights and I thank you.

What a beautiful display! Like my collection, it's heavy on the Scottish studios. You get so much more paperweight for your dollar with them. I recognize some Deacons and McDougalls in there. I got some of the same ones. :D

You will likely find you will have to invest in some cabinetry in the future. Paperweight collections tend to have puppies: I have three and a half cabinets full -The half is the china hutch where paperweights have recently invaded amongst the teacups.
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Thank you Jackie and Glasstrufflehunter. Friends and family don't really get my recent glass obsession so it's nice to have people who understand to share with.  :)

I hope it's not rude to ask but I would enjoy seeing other displays if anyone is so inclined.

Mike

Uh oh, someone has caught the bug ;D.  Only 3 months into and you have garnered quite a little collection.  Very nice.

Nice one, Mike. Just one tip, though ...

Ysart weights are not worth collecting, so if you see any for sale just ignore them. ;D

They look beautiful.  I always think Millefiori weights look like flowers and I'm sorely tempted to arrange a display on artificial grass as a base :)
