Loetz Pattern help please (link provided)
« on: June 14, 2012, 06:39:18 PM »
Hello,

Was hoping for an expert opinion or two, please. Though I've spent many hours researching the piece (shown in the link below), which was sold in 2006 (for a 'well regarded' sum) by Heritage Auction House and described as- 'Austrian Glass Vase. Loetz, c.1900. with iridescent mottled decoration, unsigned. 9.5in. high'.  Attempts to further identify this shape or exact pattern have failed to yield a concensus. Would greatly appreciate any impute and thanks very much in advance, for your time.  (hope this link works:)

Hi and welcome to the board  :)
do you know it is definitely a Loetz piece? and have you checked the Kralik-glass.com site and Loetz.com yet?
It vaguely reminds me of Kralik Silberband pieces for some reason but I couldn't see a match.  Other than that sorry I can't help more.

If this is your piece, your own photos (including a base shot) would be more helpful, as those don't blow up unless you join

Thanks for the welcome  :)

I have checked out many on line resources and still can't find this exact shape.
I've seen one other that was identical and it was unsigned and unattributed.

Though, as you said flying free it does resemble Kralik Silberband. There is a
section on the loetzandglass website that highlights what appear to be very
similar pieces in wide variations.  I'm working on getting the pics reduced to
an acceptable resolution, Lustrousstone, sorry for any inconvenience.

I resize mine to 600 x 400 somethings and then they are clickable once on and blow up in size without losing resolution.
Looking forward to seeing more pics...I'll have another look around.

I use paintshoppro, which has a resize option under the "Image" bit.
I set the largest dimension to 800, (the smaller one resizes automatically), then click on "Options", and set the reduce-figure  to 40.
This gives the correct blow-up-able thumbnail image to post.
