A pair of Millefiori crystal paperweights?
« on: June 21, 2012, 05:38:45 PM »
Hi,  I.D required on these two lovely looking paperweights that I picked up most recently.  Due to the Chinese influx of paperweights, it is getting very difficult (if not a specialist) to differentiate the origin.  Any help appreciated.  :)

They look very, very Chinese to me. Possibly older ones.

Hi Otis. Yes - definitely Chinese, and I think post 1960.

I don't think they will be lead crystal though - the Chinese weights are usually soda-lime glass. If you check the specific gravity it will be around 2.45 to 2.60, whereas crystal would be more like 2.85 to 3.30 .

Yes! I would agree that they are older ones, judging by the ware and visible marks to the base area.  I also intentionally left these oval labels on, even though the markings are erased.  I had a feeling that they might be Chinese, but didn't want to be presumptuous.  Thank you for the I.D
