kilner signed pink flower paperweight/dump
« on: June 23, 2012, 01:43:08 PM »
while i was logged into gmb  i thought i'd like to share this 'find' with other members. this pwt has very recently come to me, as pwt researchers and fellow collectors find them of interest.  put something back as they say or maybe just bragging.
the seal in the base reads J KILNER & SONS, MAKERS (across centre) WAKEFIELD
Good external condition  just over 3 inches high and about 3 inches diam.
there are 7 foil flowers with pink glass centres ( one of the pink centres is pushed right down the flower) which emanate from a pink and foil mound in the base( some may not be attached to it.
there are element prob foil? swirling about givng it a 'mountain orchids in clouds ' look .
this may be an artifact of manufacture. info and similar pic in RH's OEP book but not  &SONS seal.
appreciate comments.  thank you .  more/or higher res pics if you want them copyright free

The pickle jar makers. Interesting.

These are a well known but relatively uncommon design: flower centre colours include dark blue, red, and a paler blue, and sometimes you get more than one colour in the same weight.  I have a couple, both signed, and I think all the ones I have seen has been signed.  You can also find signed flower weights without coloured centres, and a few dumps signed 'Redfearn'.

The Skotnicki / Wilson book on dumps has several pages of images of these - including one on the cover.
