« on: June 23, 2012, 12:42:33 PM »
hi, ive had this pwt for a few years , theres are a couple similar  in  ann metcalfe's small miller's pwt collectors guide . i suspect its a dupont because of the muted colours but cant find any record of ones with a dated cane. has anyone got, had, or seen one of these?  and can help in i.d. please? its 3 inches in diam with large polished concave base with narrow flat basal ring. may have had the top polished as there is not a scratch on it.
many thanks for any help resolving this. its been bugging me for a while

Definitely 1910-1920 Baccarat, known as Dupont.  The 1853 date is one that they are known to have used.

Andy Dohan's excellent book The Dictionary of Paperweight Signature Canes has a picture of your 1853 signature cane.  See figure 5.8 on page 51.  There are also quite a few other books that talk about Dupont date canes, some with pictures.
