3 footed Glass sugar ? - ID = Davidson trinket pot

Another back of the cupboard find. I think its a sugar, there was another with it but it was damaged. No idea of age or maker after searching. It is 8cm in height with six large facets around it. Some wear to the feet. One of those pieces that feels good to hold (I hope that makes sense to others and not just me  :-[)
Pete. :-)

I didn't consider a Trinket Pot, It would be some weight as a set. I had been using it for keeping mixed nuts in (nibbles while on T'internet  ;D) Would be good to have a lid for it. I did think it had a Chippendale look as I used to collect the trophy style ones until they appeared every where I went, I thought they had started making them in china !! ;D Your picture is crystal clear, how did you get that ?. I am getting better with mine but still cant get that quality.

On another subject, off the top of your head is there a Trinket set that has a 'saucer' stuck to a lidded amber pot. ?

You're right Pete, Chippendale pieces are seriously weighty! Some of the lids are complete, some have a central hole, as the pot was done as both a powder pot and as a hair receiver - and you rescued the hair from your brush or comb and stuffed it into the little pot for later reuse as stuffing for small items such as pincushions, or it might be made into hair extensions such as ratts, or even small decorative shapes put into lockets. The Victorians had some funny ideas about hair! (Funny to us, seen from the 21st century, that is!)

I think my pic was taken with our old camera, which was really good for glass. Sadly it was dropped and broken, and the later model replacement isn't a patch on it. :(

Chippendale-style pieces appear in the catalogues of various makers in the UK, USA and Germany, so there's a lot about! They aren't all proper Chippendale though.  ;D   And the quality does vary a bit.

Can you post your lidded amber pot with a saucer into a new topic please so we can take a look? It sounds more of a butter dish style, but with a pic we might be able to tell you for sure.  8)

I have had pieces with the Krys-tol mark and seen a good number without. some are really bad quality. I was going for 3 of the larger pieces but could never find a mint condition trio that would make for great presentation trophies. My nut bowl has found a new use, put a tea light candle in it and the large facets give a great look  ;D I will dig out the Amber pot. There is an open pot the same size without a lid or a saucer. Again, the possibility of a butter dish didn't enter my head....still a lot to learn

Some of my bits have the Krys-Tol mark, some have a US Glass mark, some are unmarked, some are a bit yellowy, some a bit grey, some beautifully clear. :)

The very first piece of glass I ever owned was (and I have it still!) a small Chippendale trophy-handled candlestick, which my grannie gave me when I was 8 years old. It's been with me everywhere I've lived ever since, and was the cause of a lifelong love of glass (and a cupboard full of Chippendale pieces from tiny salts to huge serving dishes!)  ;D

I'm still learning about glass every day...  the more I see and handle it, the more I realise I still have to learn about it, especially with trinket sets!  ::)  ;D

Look forward to seeing the amber pieces...

I went into one of the Charity shops today and could not believe what I found. This Chippendale pot I found now has a change of lids  ;D I asked if she had any more but these were the only pieces.
Anne, I will start another thread with the amber dish I have. If anyone has a use for the Pot and lids to make up a set let me know and I will get them sorted. Pete
