Unkown Kosta Boda Vase ID #05782
« on: July 01, 2012, 02:55:31 AM »
Hello Everybody!
I am trying to identify the designer and year of manufacture of this Kosta Boda vase.
It has brown exterior, blue interior and finely carved/ polished rows of circles inside and outside.
It has its original sticker and signed on the bottom Kosta 05782.
The vase is 8.75'' tall x 5'' diameter and pretty heavy.
Thank you!
Dimi

designed by Mona Morales-Schildt for Kosta - doesn't mention when though.

And from the size of the price tag on this - a good buy!

Hello and thank you for all this information- you are just great!
Jackie, how did you do that( what words did you google)?
I did the same using the model number without success for quite some time.
The model number is not mentioned on the one you found so you probably browsed it by description.
Andy thanks for  your information it is really helpful! I thought that this vase is from the 80s because of the condition- looks like it is brand new. The vase is great and a really nice retro piece. Looking through the carved lenses gives you some king of kaleidoscopic view. It looks that the vase is from "Ventana" series for which Mona Morales is well known.
Best regards!
Dimi

Hi Dimi

No worries - you are welcome.
I googled images of kosta vase - which brought up a picture (about 6th row down) of a similar shaped vase with the same cut and polished circles. Many designers use a 'theme' in their styles so I  I looked a that one, which said it was by mona morales schildt - so I googled images for her name linked with kosta - and there it was. - just lucky I guess.  The first vase I found was dated 1964, so whether that gives an indication of the date of yours I do not know.

Best Wishes
Jackie
