Any help with this paper weight please ?
« on: July 09, 2012, 11:44:51 AM »
Hi, 2.25 inches tall and 2.25 inches dia with a flat polished base. Its hard to describe other than it has a portion that looks like a clam shell body in white and a amber spiral from the base leading to the side. It has a dozen small bubble inclusions with a thread of blue and amber dropping off the bubbles.
Any help with I/D would be much appreciated.
Malc

It looks very like an Isle of Wight paperweight I had identified on the board.

Thanks Gary for pointing me in the right direction, do you know when the isle of wight P/Ws went from the impressed pontil mark and started to finish them flat and polished on the base.
Many thanks
Malc

I don't think the pwts had flame pontil marks. Early ones had pedestals.
