G.F. Paperweight ( Murano )
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:38:48 PM »
Hi, this is a PW I just bought a week ago here at a Flea Market.

It does have a Galliano Ferro label on the bottom, but when I google I do not find much very similar to this.  Can anyone shed some light on it.  Even when I looked on the Board here I did not get that may hits for a G.F. paperweight.  Being a Murano label on it I had to snap it up.... ;)

What year also might this be?  Bottom does show age wear...

Thanks for any info on this

I think the relatively few GF paperweights that you find date to the 1950s -1960s. There may be some more recent, but I have not seen any hard evidence for them - perhaps someone on this Board has something?

Thanks Allan:

Will see what else gets posted on this.

If you need this pic for your site (Murano PW project) you have my permission to use, okay.  Thanks, glad to hear it is older!!

Added:  It is 3 inches tall

Hi Rose,

Galliano Ferro still exists, see below:

http://www.gallianoferro.it

However, they have not made paperweights in a long time and even then, I do not think that they made many. And so these are few and far between... It is a pity as generally GF weights were well made.

Oh....more good news.  So as Alan and you have both said this is a bit "Rarer" in a sense?  Plus a bit older than recent....Glad to hear this.  Lucked out on this one I guess.

Thanks all

Kinda neat that I find these all the way here in Canada.  Sure it has to do with immigration over the years, but Glad I am finding them!!
