Satin Glass Dolphin (Large)
« on: August 06, 2012, 12:11:29 AM »
Hi there....long time no see.

Picked this up a while ago and getting to post it now.  Anything, or nothing at all??

~ Glass Dolphin riding on a wave ( I think)
~ Weighs over 6 pounds (so pretty heavy)
~ About 13 inches tall
~ Base is about 5 inches across
~ Length of dolphin is about 10 inches long

Can't see no marks, and do not see any seam marks at all.....so ?? here.  Looks better made than some other things I have seen.  You expect it to be lighter when you pick it up, but a very solid chunk!  Is this Satin Glass or just called Frosted Glass.  Any ideas at all?  (I thought maybe Westmoreland Satin Glass, but that is an UN-educated guess...)

thanks as always...  :)

Thanks Christine for the Reply!

Yes, he looks better made than some....and really has weigh to it.  Kinda shocked me when I went to pick it up that is was that heavy.  Here is a base shot.  Might be one that never gets figured out.  I looked through Ebay and found nothing the same, so that might be a Good sign (not mass produced ?? )

Thanks

Gosh that's a huge piece of glass Rose.  I wonder whether he is something like Rosenthal or that kind of thing... perhaps 80's onwards?  I've never seen anything like it.  I wonder maybe Mikasa might be worth checking.  I have no idea if they did this sort of thing but I have a huge bowl made by them that is part frosted/satin glass.
