Unmarked Art Vannes? Huge piece bought from France
« on: August 08, 2012, 07:17:59 PM »
Unfortunately this whopper is unmarked. I can't find my tape measure so I can only estimate that it is somewhere between 2'6" and 3' at the longest dimension. It weighs 4.5 kilos.

I bought it from someone who had just returned from a buying trip in France. I bough this one, a smaller one very similar but about 15" at the longest span and the Art Vannes splash bowl in another thread.

Any info, pointers or general comments appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Other suspects using this shape might be VSL or Vallerysthal...  ???

I wouldn't associate clear glass with VSL or this type with Vallerysthal. Am I missing something?

This style was used in both Belgium and France in the 50s-70s (not quite sure of the exact time stretch), so pinpointing it to a maker is difficult. I personally suspect it to be French, Art Vannes and/or Bayel. VSL usually signs their pieces.

Sorry for the delay - I had to go rummaging. Here´s my Vallerysthal example.  :)
