I think a pull-up machine was just a posh device/comb for creating feathered effects on applied trails or threading. I'm not sure what I'm seeing on your Webb vase

I may be barking up the wrong tree, but there are similarities between the bell and this piece John (Glassobsessed) had. It's John's (cropped) image I'm posting here. hope you don't mind, John - but I can't think how to track down your thread about it.

Thanks for the link m,those prices are high,looks like I got a good deal on mine,it does seem that they are English.
