Glass Perfume Bottle - Identification Please
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:35:14 PM »
Good Evening

Hi to all: and heres my first post!

My wife likes to buy glass pieces, and she has come across this unmarked/unsigned Glass Perfume bottle and we are both curious as to identify the maker but are unsure.........

The item stands at approx 7.5" in height with the stopper, approx 5" without the stopper and has a beautiful iridescent rainbow colour effect to the glass bottle which reminds me of IOW or Okra glass with a Deep blue iridescent stopper.

The glass to touch feels frosted  apart from the lines that drip across it which feel smoother

some pics below

thanks:)

Welcome to the Glass Message Board.

I agree - it looks very much like Heron glass, from Cumberland.

I agree, I have animals (swans) in similar style. A quick google seems to say they closed in 2009.

A while since it was known as Cumberland though ;)

But if we're going to be really nit picky, Ulverston (home of Heron Glass) was in Lancashire before its bit moved into Cumbria (Cumberland + Westmoreland + bits of north Lancashire)

Oooh Christine beat me to the geography lesson! :)  Yes it could be Heron or another possibility locally would have been Adrian Sankey, also now no longer making perfumes - he just does lampshades now, but he did perfumes when he had the studio in Ambleside village centre. The satin finish and stripes (for want of a better word!) are seen on some of his items.

Re Heron, Amy is a member of the board (heronglass123) and usually responds to enquiries by email, so it might be worth dropping her a line.
