Topic: Glass Birds - ID = Chinese

I have these two pieces that  I can't ID. I thought Scandinavian but turned up nothing. Also been through the Murano zoo and other sites. I have seen a similar piece but that was not ID'd either. (Im sure this will be easy for a certain lover of glass Birds) They are 19cm in height. No marks to be found.  Any Help appreciated. Thanks. Pete

That matte base looks very like it's a Peking duck

I came across one of these birds earlier today virtually identical, although had a small hole in the middle of the base, whilst the rest of the base was matte, the seller also thought Chinese.

They're also found in black(ish) and white stripes

Thanks all, I knew it would be easy for you rosie. In teh other threads it seems I followed the same trail of Formia etc. It is true that the detail is not quite there and I should have realised with the matt base but maybe I just didnt want to see them as chinese. Luckily  they were in my price range lol. You win some :-) Ebay it is then.

Actually Pete, I think Christine told you before I did!! 

The oval label remnants on the base were a dead giveaway as well as the poorly formed beak. 
These are often listed as Dino Martens, but once you have seen his work,  there is no mistaking it.

My apologies Christine, I am very busy and just scanning and typing on quick breaks and have to keep logging back in  The way my mind works is that I see something really nice, Dino Martens pieces for example, but never remember where or who, so on seeing these two I thought they were something they weren't. I was getting nowhere and even did the GMB search but didnt get the links you gave me. Learning at a cheap price is good and a little knowledge can sometimes be costly. Fortunately I am not at the stage where I can buy expensive  pieces with confidence and I thank you all for the lessons I get on here.
