Selkirk 2003 Paperweight - info requested
« on: September 04, 2012, 06:56:36 PM »
After spending quite some time trying to find a Selkirk Catalogue for 2003, I still can't find a catalogue or the "name" of my Selkirk Paperweight.......... so I thought I'd throw it open to the knowledge base.

Apologies for the quick and dirty pics, its getting dark and there's a gale blowing outside.

It's not in any Selkirk catalogue - though there a few "similar" ones, i.e. blue base, "upside down drop" air bubble and some sort of swirls - just as an example the nearest one I found (attached): Serpentine, first issued 1999 (in catalogues until 2001), unlimited.

Many thanks for the info Wuff.

The fact that it isn't in any of their catalogues, or I can't find a similar one on ebay make it a rare example, or are there likely to be 100's if not 1000's of them around ?.

It is most likely just a trial piece, not chosen to become a production weight - so, yes, if you are looking for an identical one, it will be very rare - but still nothing special.

It doesn't fit in with our other glass pieces as we tend to collect glass vases, bowls, and penguins rather than paperweights, so it's destined to go on ebay this evening.

I've taken some slightly better pics which are too large to go on to the message board. If they are of any use you are welcome to make use of them by copying them from the ebay listing, or send me a PM and I'll zap them to you via email.
