green glass centrepiece bowl & stand
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:06:23 PM »
I've just got back from the flea market again !! I found this lovely bowl and stand in a very delicate shade of green. I just wondered if any one could identify the pattern or by the unusual base ? The bowl is approx 10.5 inches in diameter

Colour is very un-Joblingy and Jobling never used that style of plinth as far as I'm aware. I think your bowl is likely to be continental, but it's not a pattern I recognise unfortunately. Anyway, it's a lovely bowl whoever made it.

I don't think it's modern - looks right for 1930s-50s. The only caveat is that the colour is a little odd and does look a bit like modern recycled glass in your photos. However It's obviously from a good mould and it's been stuck up and cupped, not something I'd expect to see on a newer piece. How is the base finished? If it's ground and finely polished on the pics. If so, that's another sign of quality.

The base is very finely polished and the colour is much more turquoise green in reality, very 1930's colour.
