Clamsell vase - Seguso?
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:56:43 PM »
I see most of these clam shell vases attributed to Seguso.  This one is very nicely formed, but the pontil is poorly polished.  Opinions?  Thanks for looking.

uphoosier, so many companies did clamshells that I don't think anyone tries to attribute them once they lose their labels. They look so similar to each other. We would have to find one with the same decor to be able to tell who might have made it. Clamshell bowls are very difficult.

Does your bowl have a base that is not part of the main bowl itself? It looks like it is setting on something in the picture. Now THAT would be different.

Thank you.  It sets on a flat, tri-foil yellow foot with gold inclusions.

Hi, I have a couple I always thought were Murano one is signed but could never make out what it says both have double bases so can be displayed upright or on their side.
