Michael Harris Signed Landscape Cylinder Vase
« on: September 06, 2012, 02:51:25 PM »
Hi. I have just bought this fabulous vase  :D. It is signed by Michael Harris and I am told that it's the landscape pattern. Also that he rarely signed his pieces so this vase must be quite rare. Can anyone tell me any more about it? I've googled and looked everywhere but cannot find another one the same. I found a "seascape" bowl valued at around £1200. Any ideas where I can get more info? And how much it's worth? Thanks, Caroline  ???

Landscape was only produced for 2 years - '85-'87, it wasn't as popular as Seascape because the colours were duller, so it was withdrawn and replaced by Nightscape.
It is scarce. Michael Harris signed more things at IoWSG, in general, than he did at Mdina.

We don't really discuss values here, I'm afraid - they're too arbitrary.

There's an example of a Landscape vase on the IoW webpage: http://iowstudioglass.wikidot.com/landscape

As for value, as has been said it's far too arbitrary. Personally I wouldn't pay more than a hundred quid for a good piece but that may just be because I'm a cheapskate. :P

I doubt you'd be the winning buyer of this in an auction, then!

A fab vase , I was wondering if the black line from NNW to SSE was part of the design or a scratch ?

Possibly a tool mark?
I'd need to see it in vitro. ;)
