Red Flower on Bed of Green Millefiori with Incredible Detail
« on: September 06, 2012, 03:06:02 PM »
This paperweight it like nothing I have ever seen before. The bed of green millefiori is beautiful and the delicacy of the work in the stamens of the flower is just incredible. It looks and feels as though it's by a good maker but I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas? Many thanks, Caroline.

Yep - a standard Chinese design.

I particularly like the fiery red the Chinese use in their designs.

Every year they come out with something different. A few years ago they came out with some super sized ones. My favorite of these is a ball six and a half inches in diameter with a colorful fountain and fish.

I have a big collection of Chinese paperweights. The usual places I've found them is home decor outlet stores. Sometimes you can find them at flea markets or tourist trap type stores.
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.
