Small Scandi? footed vase, cut glass, ID help please
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:20:20 AM »
Hi All,
I bought this small 14.5cm, heavy footed vase yesterday, it looked familiar, but the foot has thrown me! I thought it might be Orrefors at first, but no marks and the base isnt somthing i've seen on one of their vases before.I thought maybe Strombergshytann, but the rim looks wrong. The foot has the pontil nicely polished out, the glass has a blue tinge to it and flower design is cut into the glass not etched.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Cheers, David

Hi Kieth, thanks for your thoughts, I thought the rim was wrong for Strombergshytann, the rim reminds me of the Per Lutkin, Holmgaard stuff. The couple of bits of Magnor I have don't have the polished pontil, do they do etched stuff? again my Magnor bits all look Murano inspired.

Cheers again, David

You're right the Stromberg' pieces I have have polished rims and The Magnor piece has a flat base, have you tried 'harder.net' I think that's right, they have loads of stuff on there and they do reply to emails. ;D

The cutting is downright simplistic so i doubt you will find a big name here.

True, but not all Strombergshytenn pieces are well cut, this is a marked piece and would probably look better without the birds ;D

You are probably right,I was just making an observation about my piece,I haven't seen a Stromberg' piece without cut and polished rims so as I have only a few 'Scandi' vases I'll shut up now ::) ;D ;D
