Beranek Flower?
« on: September 10, 2012, 02:26:12 PM »
Long glass flower on green stem, white cased and clear glass head with purple swirling - just showing top half in photo, verey heavy (top heavy) 80" (over 2.5 ft) long - Saw this thread http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,45707.10.html with similar flowers attributed to Beranek, so wondered if this was as well - looks like it?

Thanks Adam

It looks like it to me :) - do you actually have it?
Is it the same shape as the yellow one in the image I posted of Dan Klein's collection at Chamber Street Museum?
It's so much easier to tell when they have Beranek labels stuck on them!

Hi Sue - I missed that link, yes it's seems to be same shape but different colour flower and stem is green rather than blue. Yes bought it today.

I've tracked down the link Anik put in that thread, of a Beranek catalogue, from Jindrich, Adam.
And went to the next pages, where there's a flower like yours - and go to the next page (click on the arrow at the right) and you'll see anohther!
The do come in different colour combinations, and with both green and blue stems.

You do have to be careful about Beranek Flowers - make sure that ARE Beranek and not contemporary Chinese ones, because they are starting to pop up all over the place!

That's an interesting link - I overlooked it before, yes I see what you mean and am more confident this is a Beranek flower.

On another note I recently bought some Skrdlovice off eBay and I see same patterns in the linked Beranek catalogue. I will have to wait till they arrive to ask if they are Skrdlovice or later Beranek. I know Beranek continued many of the same shapes through.

Very pretty flower.  I believe it was designed by Vlastimil Beranek in 1992.
