« on: September 10, 2012, 04:51:43 PM »
Hi, my first venture over to this side of the board  :)

don't usually have much to do with paperweights so a bit out of my comfort zone

This large chap came my way recently, weighs over 850g is 9cm high x 7cm wide. Has a matte iridescent finish

Quite prepared to be told its modern chinese,

thanks for looking
Mel

Hi.  I don't know who made it, but I doubt that it is modern Chinese. I look at Chinese manufacturers websites fairly often, and I have not seen anything like this on offer.

That's what I wondered but the ones I've seen have ground bases. What is that on the pontil mark?

It's just a snapped pontil mark as far as I can tell - a clean break and no attempt to grind it down or polish it.

Midsummer eh? interesting - not much info to be gleaned from t' web tho so will keep delving

thanks
Mel
