Pewter coloured pitcher id please?
« on: September 12, 2012, 09:12:33 AM »
Hi
I have a glass pitcher which is 10.5" tall, there are no matching glasses with this. It has a ground and polished pontil and is a pewter or flint coloured glass. It has a circular base and the neck is more oval in shape. It's a good quality glass, possibly crystal due to the weight and is similar in quality to Whitefriars glass, but I'm pretty sure it's not Whitefriars though. Does anyone know when this was made and who made it please? Could it be Finnish glass please?
Thanks.
Chriss :D

Hello Chriss, and welcome to the board.

I am not a Whitefriars collector so can't help you identify this jug or the others you have posted, but there are plenty of others here on the board who are.

So be patient and as and when they have time to log in and see your postings, they will certainly tell you if it is.

It may be Scandinavian or even Polish, it does have lovely clean lines, and I can quite see why you would have bought it.
Rosie.

Hi Rosie,
I don't think it's Whitefriars as i originally posted this glass on the Whitefriars glass forum and another member there suggested that I tried here :D I've got 4 pieces of Whitefriars in my glass, and know through experience, that this is of quite a good quality, but i mainly collect iridescent Loetz and Kralik now :) A member of the Whitefriars forum also suggested the turquoise set could be Scandinavian so I have been trawling through google images and ebay with only similarities to date.
Thanks
Chriss

Hi Chriss and Welcome to the board. Your Jug looks suspiciously similar to ones I saw being made at Krosno in Poland, might be worth checking it out.

 ???
I'm not sure it has quite the quality of Krosno.... the rim looks uneven - and it's a bit unbalanced and clunky (rather than chunky) overall.
