C-Shaped Glass Dog
« on: September 20, 2012, 12:42:29 AM »
Does anyone have an idea where this dog might have been born? I thought maybe it was Murano glass, but the glass looks more Scandinavian to me. The dog's feet are flat and highly polished to a sharp point on end. It is 9" (23 cm) long. Thanks!

Looks rather German to me, your dachshund  napkin holder.

 ;D

The head is very nicely modelled, even though it is slightly charicatured - it has oodles of personality and expression.

German is another idea I hadn't considered. I've seen this dog before, but I don't remember where. I thought it looked like a towel holder, but it would be sure to be broken quickly that way. It does have that shape. The glass itself is very nice with a smoothness that I see in some Swedish glass. I'll have a look through German dogs to see if I can turn up anything.
