Massive Czech Glass vase - help ID please
«
on:

I was wondering if anyone knew the origins to this monstrous glass vase - it weighs just about 2.6kg - it is 31cm tall and 20cm across the top. It is a beautiful mixture of textured and clear amber glass and all I can add is that it was made in Czechoslovakia as this is embossed on the inside of one of the feet
Thanks to anyone that can help.

Possibly Stölzle Hermanova # 18781 - see Newhall CD Hermanova before 1958 page 9 ?

Thanks very much - I have decided to take responsibility myself rather than let others find things out for me - I shall try and look your suggestion up.

Mike, the Glass Message Board is always a good start for a newbie like you - that's why we are here and your queries are welcome!
When I said 'possibly' I'd invited others who have got the book 'Sklo Union - Art Before Industry' by M. Newhall to have a look for you and might confirm my attribution.
This book is available from Anne, member of GMB

Hi Mike, most of the time the members on here get an ID straight away (they are that good)but occasionally you get a point in the right direction and get to find what your looking for. It has helped me no end. Finding and ID'ing a piece yourself is a great feeling. I have learnt a lot from this board. Welcome to the GMB.

Hey guys I probably didn't write that message very well - I usually let a friend sort out what my glass finds are but I meant I have joined to Glass Message Board myself to do things for myself for a change - I would love it if somebody has the book and can confirm Pamelas suggestion. I looked for the Newhall book on Amazon a couple of weeks ago and its been out of stock - I am not very online literate and didn't mean my messaage to sound like I didn't want any help - I joined Glass Messages puerely to do things for myself for once
