  My accent is Edinburgh.
Probably the best-spoken and most easily understood english to be found anywhere in the uk and northern Ireland.... according to foreign students who want to learn english with a good accent.

The vase looks like a bit of a mix what is called "Crystal blue stripe", designed by MH at Mdina and still made today and the early Rosenthal range.
It's a bit late in the day at 1990 for this to be occurring at IoWSG, so interesting in that respect. Slightly more subtle, nice.

Yes M it was nice to see the signed Ditchfield piece  the design is like the LC Tiffany iridescent peacock feather, mine has a slightly different shape neck otherwise identical,,,, they both have small rough indented pontils with a matt flatted ring around it . Looking more closely at mine with a better magniification i can see a couple of letters , it helped knowing exactly where to look they are both very thick and heavy hence a lot of base wear .  I know you appreciate the power of knowledge M .    Would that be 'Morningside Edinburgh Sue ?  hee hee ,  being a Glaswegian I cannot lay claim to a better Scottish accent but i think you will find  it has long been recognized that  'Inverness' and the surrounding area has the clearest and most precise English language accent in the UK

Good grief no, Peter!
Morningside is an alien area with it's own peculiar plum-in-gob accent. It doesn't count as being Scottish.
I'm from Granton/Goldenacre.
Inverness is the most beautiful accent in Scotland, but not neccessarily the most comprehensible plain english. Edinburgh is the best plain accent - the one most easily understood by non-english speakers.

Sadly, when I've been to Inverness in the last few years, I haven't heard the Inverness accent at all. I used to just love walking the streets, listening to the music of the talk of the folk passing by...
