Any need for "minor" paperweight repairs.
« on: September 28, 2012, 04:11:41 PM »
New to this board and I have a question. Is there much need for "minor" paperweight repairs? Reason I'm asking is I have a machine designed for prototyping telescope lenses, and I have repaired 4 paperweights on it. I am currently finishing up the 4Th one. I'm really only interested in taking out small chips and scratches to the top dome or bottom base. I have the tooling to do more extensive repairs but do not want that type of work. (my hands will not allow me to do so as they start cramping)  A month ago I met a man and told him I may sell him my machine when I was finished with it as I had a weight and a marble (to be made into a weight) to finish.  Now that I'm back to using the machine I am wondering if I am doing the right thing by selling it. It's not that I need the money, I'm just trying to stay busy, especially in the wintertime, and working on the weights is a lot of fun as well as rewarding. Any advice would be appreciated. Ronnie

I'm sure there could well be some interest, I currently have 4 weights being re-poliished elsewear. Probably going to depend on price and quality of work at the end of the day.

Interesting piece of equipment there, is it powered or all done by hand? If you do decide to sell it I may be interested too.

Nick
