Mdina Bark Bottle Vase
«

I am sure this is a Mdina bark bottle vase.
I only have the one picture taken on my mobile was not sure if I would find it easy to post on the board.
Looks the same as the one in the Millers 20th Century Glass except for the colour.
I did not buy it as to expensive but thought it may be ok to post for future reference or interest.

There appears to be half of it missing?

It is a very short one - but they do come in different heights.
Perhaps something went wrong, but they managed to salvage something from what was left?
That is not unknown. I've got a Fish vase with no neck, a bowl which I have discovered should have been a Zig-Zag, but doesn't have the zigs or zags and I've seen (but do not own) several other very peculiar bits.

It looks fine, nothing missing, perhaps just the angle the photo was taken from. Here is an amethyst one, big old heavy squat lumps they are.

I would like one in that colour, what were they asking Roy?

John it's not a wide one, it's just a
very
short one.
But different to the 3 short stubby textured ones I have.

I disagree, I am looking at one of each here and the proportions look fine for a wide one - look at the width of the neck against the width of each shoulder.

Thanks all
John I am not really a Mdina person but would agree it was a wide one the picture was only from my mobile and may be a little misleading.
They were asking £90.00 but as I was not buying did not ask for a better price.

My wide ones are pretty much flat on top... I think I'd have to get some out and actually check the texture and count the ridges, John... all my bottles have different necks.... but none have necks like this!
Roy, can you elucidate? (and they used to say "the camera never lies"
)

Looking at the photo, my thoughts were also that this was one of the wider rectangular shaped bottles.
Here's a pic of my wide blue and amethyst versions:

I do also have this slightly squarer version with wider rim, although I do think that the one in Roy's photo is more likely to be one of the wider type bottles above.

90 quid would in my book be a very good price for one of these. Not an easy shape to find.
