Clear Glass Hongell-lookalike Bowl
« on: September 27, 2012, 03:39:03 PM »
I inherited two small glass bowls.  One is green glass, slightly over 11 cm wide and 49 mm high, signed on the bottom "G H Karhula" (Goran Hongell at Karhula Iittala, from research on this website).  The green bowl appears to be identical to one shown on the Lasikammari-Art website (www.lasikammari.fi/art/_GH/_kulho_0898.html).
The other bowl is clear glass, same design, 10.5 cm wide and 50 mm high, but is not signed or marked in any way on the bottom.  Questions:
1. Did Hongell make these bowls in a series of sizes? (the Lasikammari example is called "bowl D"
2. Did Hongell make them in different colors?
3. Is it possible that the clear glass bowl, while unsigned, is also by Goran Hongell?

Any information appreciated.  Thanks, Bob

Hongell will be the designer not the maker. The clear bowl is also a slightly different shape

A signed and an unsigned copy side by side should not worry me in the slightest. Just make sure you don't split them up when you sell them - and don't expect them to fetch double because there are two.

Thanks Christine, thanks Ivo.  Ivo, I got a copy of your "Glass Facts" - very helpful.
