caithness prototype 1
« on: September 30, 2012, 07:25:02 PM »
1 of 2 i got today, this one measures 3.5" across and just over 2.5" high, marked on the base c11g , around the base about 0.5" up has been sand blasted to give the appearance of mist? , the ground is a translucent pink/purple colour rising up to a point to nearly hit the large air bubble, i say prototype just because of the sand blasting and i've never seen one before, the weight even might have a name Wuff  should know ..thanks

cheers Ray

Is it space beacon?
One in the link below

Limited Edition 2nd the misting added to differentiate from the Ltd edition and sold as a second but don't quote me because I have a Fire dance (unlimited) also marked C11G with the 'misty' etching along the base.

Space Beacon comes in Damson, Green and Purple - so this will be the purple version ... and brings us back to the question of seconds of limited edition weights. We've discussed this recently - an example with a frosted zig-zag pattern on the lower part of the dome.

Now - your weight doesn't seem to have this pattern - but just the lower part of the dome uniformly frosted - is that correct? There is a similar case on ebay right now (120989724599) with a Sea Crab weight - just the lower part of the dome uniformly frosted (not visible on the auction image, but I have discussed this with the seller and got additional images).
