Strange shaped Vase
« on: October 02, 2012, 12:43:38 PM »
This weirdly shaped vase has a smokey colour but see just a hint of dark green just cant work it out. I havent seen this shape before. I thought Scandinavian but unusually for me (usually a lack of knowledge) I dont think it is. It is 30cm in height and the large hoop is 68 cm in circumference. Not marked apart from some wear. Very small circular pontil mark. Any Clues ?
Pete. :-)

I'm clueless, it's certainly something rather nice, but I wouldn't want the cats wandering near it.  :o
Is it stable, or top heavy?

It's a bit bottom heavy so not that unstable. It's just so strange to look at lol.  Poland is a contender for no other reason than some TK Maxx pieces from Poland are strange as well. An answer may turn up.

The slim neck part would hold dried grasses (or other dead vegetation) rather nicely upright, in it.  I'd think Poland might be a disinct possibility, or Germany...
