Huge 'Aqua' signed studio vase
« on: October 06, 2012, 11:45:23 AM »
Really not getting anywhere with this one does it say SB, or maybe 573
the two signatures appear to Irene F / James M or could that be who it was made for? dated 1998. It stands 7" and weighs almost 3kg
Any thoughts appreciated has always Chris

A search came up with Irene Frolic and James Michael which led  me here.... http://www.northlandsglass.com/about/history Master classes led by some great artists the first by Bertie Valliens some nice glass in the galleries if you open them.
Which I knew nothing about but sounds a great idea....
Initial thoughts probably American but what led me back to the UK was the sheer weight of the piece, the price to ship it over and the purchase price would make it an expensive purchase. Probably not the best formula to base your research on  :)

Just viewed the lovely art glass studio link Chris...stunning work, and looks as though most has sold as the last two galleries are empty. You certainly seem to have got the knack of spotting good Scottish Art Glass, and this piece is a lovely blue...  I agree about weight + postage cost ruling out American glass!
I think it says 573.

There was a great lecture by Alison Kinnaird at the Edinburgh conference about Northlands creative glass.
I'd love to attend some of their things, just as an observer.

Christine,
Apologies if it appears obvious ,  it may just be me that's a bit dim but a link with 'huh' which I didn't understand anyway, and which  has several different  interpretations didn't really help.
Checked the site and cannot really glean much information from it, again that could just be me.

Okay, but still don't like the emoticon which is often used to express surprise, disbelief, confusion and even doubt. Hence my confusion.
