Hi,

I bought a vase which I thought was familiar, but after a look into my notes, the GMB and Jindrich's website, I decided I have no idea what it is.  I hope someone can help.

It stands 25cm tall and weighs 1802g. It's got 8 columns of 4 circular lenses which become smaller as they go down.  The base is shiny with a rounded well.  The vase gives off a nice ring when 'pstriked' with a nail.

I apologise for my rather poor photographs -- it's not a particularly good day for pictures.

Thank you,
Anik

I'm sorry, I'm feeling mighty dense.

I know the vase is crystal and I know it comes from a series named 'Carmen', but I don't think I know which glassworks...   ?

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Robert.  Podebrady did cross my mind, but I couldn't find any evidence.

I find it strange that the article in the CGR doesn't seem to mention the glassworks.  Then again, I don't read German, so I might have missed something.  Does it mention Wunsch as the designer?

Anik, I do read German ;D, and there is really no glassworks mentioned ???
They talk about the "Czechoslovakian glassmakers", and that the collection is made of pressed lead crystal...

BTW, if you go just one page further, there is a pic of the bowl I showed in our Skrdlovice thread (or at least something very similar)

Michael

Thank you for taking a look, Michael.  It's a shame no glassworks is mentioned.  Thankfully, the pattern numbers might lead to answers.

the posted pix of this piece look very good, certainly not 'poor photographs' - if only many others who post could produce snaps of this quality, and without a busy background of their window sills/gardens/curtains/kitchen utensils etc., it would be great.
However, what is 'pstriked with a nail'  -  it sounds dangerous (to the glass) ;)

"Pstriked" was my attempt at turning the lovely Polish word, "pstryk", into an English one.  Of course, I meant: to tap gently with a fingernail.

that's a relief - I had visions of a six inch nail being used like a hammer. ;)
