Scottish Vase?
« on: October 11, 2012, 08:08:03 AM »
This is unusual for me. I don't think it's Monart or Vasart. It is  over 8" high and has the mottled effect and many canes to middle and base. It's with my dealer and I might buy knowing what it is. Broken rough pontil scar to bottom.

Have thought of Perthshire paperweights?

That's what the dealer thinks it is but I have not seen a vase by them before.

One here in my album Adam, made by Chic Young, not so common as Strathearn etc. is the pontil mark actually rough? these are swirly with a 'P' on the base but often quite hard to see, but don't quote me because I know nuffink Lol

I can't remember if the pontil mark has a P. The Perthshire attribution now looks good though. Thanks, Ill tell the dealer. I may buy but at 160 I think is too expensive.
