Controlled bubble paperweight? Or cigarette lighter holder?
« on: October 13, 2012, 05:51:03 AM »
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the origin of this? It has a Whitefriars look about it to me but I can't find anything quite like it on whitefriars.com. It's about 6cm high and the base is completely flat and smooth. Was also wondering if it has a use besides being a paperweight, since it's hollow. I wondered if it could be a candle holder but it's completely rounded on the inside so wouldn't hold anything straight. I'm a total newbie so any info appreciated  :)

Sorry it occurs to me that this should maybe have gone in the 'paperweights' forum, but I guess I put it here since I was wondering if it is actually something else. Please excuse my newbie uncertainty and moderators move the post if neccessary!

I agree with Ivo....  could very well be a lighter sans metal....  don't rule out Japanese as an origin...
I have been told that glass is my mistress......

Aha! I hadn't thought of the table-lighter possibility, but having looked at some pics of complete ones it seems likely. Not being a smoker, I'm quite happy to display it on its own  :) Thank you for your replies!
