Small green ribbed vase to ID
« on: October 21, 2012, 01:41:07 AM »
Hi, I'm new to glass collecting, and need help with some items from a mixed glass auction lot.  This is a cute little vase, 7 cm high and 7.75 cm at its widest point at the top.  The interior is ribbed and the outside is smooth.  The "ears" are slightly lopsided!  No pontil mark, but it has a raised rim at the base which looks like it might have been ground.  Could this have been blown over a mould?  I haven't been able to find anything resembling this shape despite looking at many images of vases in the last couple of weeks.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

A few have appeared on here.  Sklo Union Hermanova Hut, Frantisek Vizner (I think  :))

Have these been id'd?  I'll see if I can find the thread but I thought they were as yet un'id'd and not Czech  :-\

m is right -- as far as I know still not identified (apart from being not Czech); they seem to appear almost exclusively in England...

edit: sorry, crossposting with John

I don't have the links but I have seen these as ID'd as above. When I posted mine there was some debate as to being Czech. I shoulds have linked the site but as usual I didn't. As usual I will always bow to the more knowledgeable on here (there are a lot  ;D)

I've just done a very quick search for Sklo Union Hermanova Hut and spotted another vase with upward sweeping wings, and several different pieces in the same lime green colour as my vase, so will keep searching for Czech products unless it is ID'd otherwise.  My other two posts may also be Bohemian/Czech, and I've spotted another item from my mixed lot which seems to be Sklo Union Hermanova Hut, so you've all sent me in a fruitful direction which I wouldn't have thought of myself.  And I think now I really like Czech glass, the colours are so vibrant.  What a wonderful glass website, so much expertise in one place, many thanks!

Valerie I think the feeling on this one is that it isn't Czech (ots of previous searching by lots ofpeople at various times on this one)- but searching Czech glass is a great way to see wonderful glass!

Not quite. We see them here quite frequently. Not sure what the "not Czech" attribution is based upon.
