Michael harris ? but from where & when? - Just curious
« on: October 21, 2012, 10:01:16 AM »
Hi - I have unfortunately just NOT bought these two items.  Ebay item  200832762539

 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200832762539?nma=true&si=htW7qlO%2FALwO7jpgW1905ezoXXM%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true  Was outbid.

But am still curious. Are they IOWSG - it looks like a flame pontil mark to me . And if so from what range? I cannot see similar in Mark Hills book - Possibly Aurene - but not with the strapping? .

Just trying to learn ! Any info welcomed.

Hi Jak, Both lovely items and Certainly IoWSG, I think these may be Aurene, although not completely sure, although most definitely superb examples of IoWSG. I could quite easily have made room for these! :)

Thanks Greg - me too - but didn't bid enough.

Mark Hills book definitely states though that Aurene did not have any strapping - half way down P 76, and also says on p 78 that stoppers were always in matching colours and not clear - as this one was.

So I still don't know what they are.

They're from an unnamed experimental "range" produced for a short while during the development of Aurene.
Somewhere, in some recesses of IoWSG archives they do get called Seawood, that was never official, but an afterthought, I think from Elizabeth Harris.

It does appear in two different colourways, one with the more Mdina-like teal blue, the other in the inky blue of Aurene.
So they pre-date Aurene. And they're fabby!
This is a pic of Blue Aurene, Gold Aurene, Inky "Seawood" and teal "Seawood".
