Murano label? Underside ground down?
« on: October 21, 2012, 06:44:53 PM »
I have concerns about a piece of Murano I bought at auction recently. It has a label that isn't included in the 100 labels you have on this site. Also, I have concerns about the underside of the bowl as it is unlike any other Murano pieces I have seen. It is rough and looks suspiciously as if the bottom has been ground.
Hope you can help me find the truth of this piece.

The pictures are too small to enlarge but I suspect your label includes the words Made in Italy, in which case it was not made in Murano. Glass genuinely made in Murano says made in Murano.

When you resize make the longest dimension 700 pixels; that usually gives you a suitable size for uploading

Your label includes the words Made in Italy, in which case it was not made in Murano. Glass genuinely made in Murano says Made in Murano. The reflection is obscuring the rest of the label, unfortunately

Your pics are better but still too small. When you resize make the longest dimension 700 pixels; that usually gives you a suitable size for uploading

Hello again Lustrousstone,
I really tried hard to resize the photos as you suggested yesterday-I did put in 700 pixels but every time I did I still got the message, when I tried to post it in the message board, that my pictures were too big. I need to do an ICT course!!
The label reads 'Murano Glassware' (top) - 'Crystal Clear' (middle)- 'Made in Italy' (bottom)
What do you think genuine or not?
Thanks
 Pam

Domans, your bowl was made by Chirico of Naples, Italy. They make these bowls in different colors. You can see some of their things at http://www.vetreriechirico.it/showroom/?page_id=88. They are the company that uses the Lavorazione Arte Murano label. I think that Crystal Clear is an import company that handles some of their items. I haven't found anything definite on Crystal Clear yet.
