Formia Fish
« on: October 29, 2012, 09:54:23 PM »
Hi again!  Yet another of our recent Murano purchases.  This fish is 11" long & 9" tall at the tail and appears to have silver leaf in it.  Could someone let me know what technique was used to make it & maybe how old it is?  The label is clear so I'm thinking it's a recent piece.  It says, "Formia Vetri di Murano".

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is a Formia fish. I believe it is a thinly cased fenicio. It looks like the glass was made with silver foil. Nice fish. I would love to include it in the Murano Zoo. If you would like it in there, just email me your full name (envelope on left) and I'll give you credit for the photo.
