info on this butter dish

Hi, can anyone tell me the origin, age or value of this butter dish. The seller recalls her mother bringing it out from the UK in the 50's. I cannot find any info online, so any pointers on where to look would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi and welcome to the board. Your butter dish is a new one on me... I wonder if it's meant to be in two parts and this is the lid? Hopefully someone else may be able to help.

Sorry, should have split lid from base. Base is flat, patterned around it's edge, clear in the centre with the single handle. Pictures are of lid sitting on the base, I can add pics if needed. Thanks

Yes please, as the more pics we have the better an idea we have of what the piece might be.

Here's a few more pics. I had hoped the cross design might have given an idea of origin. Noticed that the crosses are uniform but the patterns between them are not. The design is recessed (rather than raised) into the glass on the inside of the bowl & bottom of the dish.
I've drawn a blank at my local antique shops, though one dealer thought it could be Scandinavian. Any pointers on how to research this item further would be appreciated. Thanks.
