Facet cut very heavy lamp base, poss Murano / Mandruzzato for ID
« on: November 25, 2012, 01:47:27 PM »
I got this lamp base ages ago and never got round to finding out who made it or where it was made.

It has a very Mandruzzato feel to me, but knowing my luck, it isn't!!

It is facet cut all over with a flat base and very heavy weighing 2.95kg

Size of the glass base only (not including the fittings) is 11cm height x 11.5cm approx max diameter

I would love to be able to ID this lamp base, even if it isn't Murano / Mansruzzato

Thanks in advance.

1920s/30s, French, German, Bohemian. Looks cut too. More views of fitting might help.

Thanks for the reply Frank much appreciated, I have taken some photos of the fitting and also took the fitting off and underneath was a sticker with the numbers 59847 or a 1

It has obviously been rewired at some point, as it has modern wiring and a on / off flip switch a short way down the wire.

Bulb holder has been replaced, original parts could be older so revise from 1890s to 1930 for the glass. Bulb holder could be 41930s to 1950s. Last rewire was more recent then that. Handwriting confirms countries suggested too.

Thank you so much Frank that has been a great help, I did not realise it was that old, I was thinking more the 50s or 60s, so a pleasant surprise.
