Val Saint Lambert clear & amber cut crystal trinket set
« on: November 09, 2012, 07:01:24 PM »
A high quality trinket set in clear and amber cut crystal made by Val Saint Lambert, Belgium. Tray marked with raised letters.

Many pieces seem to correspond in shape with the a ‘Luxval’ Val Saint Lambert set in the 1935 catalogue/musterbuch at
http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/LUXVAL-1935.117+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMTcmcHJvZHVjdElEPTU3MTkmZGV0YWlsPQ__.0.html

There is a perfume flask of similar shape in uranium glass on Pamela’s site (dated 1908) at
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/toilettenservice/04604.jpg
so it would appear that this pattern was produced over a long period.

Photograph of the ringholder and a shallow dish or plate (7 inches diameter), both in clear with amber, from a different source.

This set has been made in a lot of colors.  As we saw already:  clear and amber, but also clear and blue, clear, yellow, pink and a kind of turquoise. So 2x a combination of clear and a color, the rest just one color.  It was a set with a lot of items. The plate was used to put the carafe on.  A goblet was put upside down on top of the carafe. Used for (sugar) water. There was no stopper on the big carafe since the goblet should be on top.  It often happens, here on the continent,  that antique dealers  sell it with a stopper, left over from a broken perfum bottle....
