I think from memory that a yellow/orange glow indicates cadmium. The presence of manganese in clear glass, will show, usually, as a dull greyish green - not at all the bright green that you'd get if uranium is present. Manganese is a decolourant, and is apparent in clear glass for the obvious reason of counteracting the colour produced by iron impurities in the sand.
However, the use of a uv torch is essential to detect the presence of manganese - unlike uranium which can be detected in the bright morning or late afternoon sunlight - and according to Dirk by turning the television on
