opalescent bowl
« on: December 12, 2012, 07:14:44 PM »
Hello,
not my usual thing but I liked it and so have found myself an attribution problem. It is about 30cm diam and has lots of deliberate bubbles and some not so deliberate furnace dirt type inclusions. The pontil rod mark is smoothly polished and it has also had another flat polish to the base, which has what appear to be age related marks across the polished base rim ring. There is a ring of ridges across the bowl that can be felt, which is related to how it was formed.

To me it could be anything, modern Spanish recycled, vintage Murano or even Bohemian, I really have no idea. It is a nice thing though so I am just keen to know more. I am discovering that it is quite hard to photograph this kind of glass. If anyone on GMB has any opinion about the bowl I would like to hear it....
