Hello

This piece is owned by a friend of mine Whitefriars Aqua 9828 nipple vase (he also had a meadow green one which he sold a while back)

This piece has a unfinished pontil and a little rough finish to the neck. is it a (back door) frigger piece?

Hi Nige, need to do some research on this one can only find them in the 1974 catalogue and then only in 3 colours lilac, sage and kingfisher? looks kingfisher to me, will see what I can find out.
An uncatalogued flint in this collection. I think Aqua was used in 1974 if it is Aqua it's a rare one. Aqua is full lead crystal so would not be cased in clear this looks cased which would make it kingfisher. The neck should be fire polished so would have the pontil mark (from having been put back on the iron) polished out could be one someone took out the back door maybe to turn into a lamp base?

It's not a great photo - I took it with my phone.  It's definitely aqua and he got it with the other one, but kept onto this at the time.

I agree with Chris, it looks from your photo to be cased in clear and therefore would be Kingfisher.

Interesting! It's definitely not Kingfisher, Sage or Meadow Green. But you are correct in saying that it is cased. I've seen the Kingfisher one that sold on ebay recently and the two colours are not the same - this one is definitely green, rather than blue.

I don't have the vase to hand but will photograph it again next to a kingfisher piece and an aqua piece.

Hi Nige, put it in the cabinet at Salt's I will be over there at my daughters Christmas Eve. Interesting as it does seem to have a green tint, did the meadow(uncatalogued) have the same longer unfinished neck? and base.
Could quite easily be an experimental piece someone playing around with colours or the heating/cooling process caused the anomaly and maybe sneaked it out the back door intending to turn it into a lamp I never say never with glass at the end of the day it's only the whim of the maker how it turns out and  oddities do turn up from time too time.
Still think it's a kingfisher gone wrong though
Think what you need is an 'expert'

He did sell the meadow green at Salts mill a few years ago, there was some confusion over it being a fake, I remember the meadow having snapped pontil like this one, not sure about neck?
I'm sure a post appeared on is it Whitefriars about the meadow green some years ago.
